Harley Ride to Alaska

Tok to Fairbanks

Tuesday, 27 July 93--Today we reached the northern-most point of our travels--Fairbanks, Alaska. Shortly after departing Tok, we ran into 40miles of very dense fog, followed by 20 miles of clear, then 35 more miles of heavy fog.

Knocking on the door of Harley's northern-most dealership After our arrival in Fairbanks, we checked into the Captain Bartlett Inn, a really nice plce except for the rooms being a little on the small side and having no air conditioning. The temperature today was in the low eighties, which was very uncomfortable for us after having become so accustomed to riding in cold weather.

We visited the Harley dealer to verify our arrangements for servicing tomorrow. This dealer has really made his place look very much Alaskan with old dog sleds, tools, wagon wheels, lanterns, outhouse, etc. I took several pictures.
